HDHomeRun for Mac – Network-connected HD tuner from Elgato

Munich/San Francisco, July 24, 2007 – Elgato Systems today announces an exclusive Mac-compatible bundle of the SiliconDust HDHomeRun network TV tuner with the award-winning EyeTV 2 software.

The HDHomeRun hardware is an unique centralized networked digital TV tuner that can be shared by any Mac on a LAN. Its dual tuners allow two users to watch or record different programs at the same time. The HDHomeRun tunes ATSC (over-the-air) digital TV via an antenna, as well as unencrypted digital channels over cable (known as Clear QAM). This allows users to enjoy the wide range of free SD and HDTV programs which are broadcast on digital TV and cable. The HDHomeRun can be located wherever there is a convenient antenna or cable outlet and connected to the network. For the first time, Mac users can enjoy TV on their computer without having to run special wiring to their desk. Together, the HDHomeRun tuner and EyeTV 2 software deliver pristine digital TV to all the Macs on a network. EyeTV 2 is the world’s most complete software solution for television on the Mac. It enables users to watch live TV broadcasts on their Mac and record them onto the Mac’s hard disc; edit the recordings in an integrated Editor; export the recordings to iPod, iPhone or Apple TV; and burn the recordings to DVD*. The software offers an integrated Program Guide from TitanTV with full-text search.

“We’re delighted that Mac users can now have the convenience of a networked TV tuner with great features and performance that EyeTV provides. HDHomeRun and EyeTV sets the standard for digital TV on the Mac.” said Theodore Head, President, SiliconDust USA, Inc.
