AJA continues to impress me with quick updates and improvements to it’s already steller line of videocards. This new software update is full of some really cool new features, as well as a buch fixes. The SD anamorphic support looks really cool, and is definitely a feature I will use. Here is more info from AJA:
This release introduces many customer requested features, such as SD-SD Anamorphic conversions on KONA 3 and KONA 2, 720p25 Varicam support, and IMX/50 support.
*New Features*
– SD to SD aspect ratio conversions — allows anamorphic SD to be played or captured as letterboxed SD and vice versa (KONA 2 and KONA 3)
– 720p25 Varicam support added — requires Final Cut Pro 5.1.2 or higher for DVCPro 720p50 support (all KONAs except LS/LSe)
– 720p23.98 hardware based capture support (using 1080psf 23.98 to 720p23.98 Cross Conversion, KONA 3-only)
– Added support for little endian captures in Log RGB and RGB codecs
– Added support for capture to SD IMX50Mbps compression in NTSC and PAL
– New Easy Setups added:
– 720P 25 10 bit Varicam (KONA LH, KONA 2 and KONA 3 cards)
– 720P 25 8 bit Varicam (KONA LH, KONA 2 and KONA 3 cards)
– 720P 25 DVCProHD Varicam (KONA LH, KONA 2 and KONA 3 cards)
Note: these new 720P 23.98 Easy Setups (below) should not be confused with the 720P 23.98 Varicam Easy Setups that are designed to capture 23.98fps from 59.94 Panasonic Varicam footage. These are Setups to be used with the 1080PsF 23.98 cross-conversion function from the KONA Control Panel application, for KONA 3 only.
– 720P 23.98 10 bit (to be used with 1080PsF 23.98 cross-conversion function from KONA Control Panel application – KONA 3 only)
– 720P 23.98 8 bit (to be used with 1080PsF 23.98 cross-conversion function from KONA Control Panel application – KONA 3 only)

*Improvements and Fixes*
– Mouse no longer locks up during bitfile switches when KONA card is placed in a slot other than 3.
– Fixed a bug that could result in a crash when importing Motion clips into Final Cut Pro.
– Fixed “Lock Input Audio Gain to Unity” checkbox in the Control Panel so that it performs as intended on Intel Macs.
– Removed “Limit Output Video to Legal Values” checkbox in KONA Control Panel due to inconsistent behavior and perception as a broadcast safe filter.
– Audio Channel Mapping in KONA Control Panel now allows any of the 16 paired channels of embedded audio to be mapped to any other paired channel (KONA 3 only).
– KonaTV display of SD 23.98 now defaults to SD 29.97 and will properly display on a monitor.
